Sound Off: Favorite 1-Hit Wonders

July 15, 2011

Wow, an actual non-“Where In the Hawaii” post. Amazing right?

So I thought I’d send us into the weekend with an extra hop in our step since many of y’all seem to vibe on the topic of music. How this particular subject (1-Hit Wonders) came about was really quite simple. I was recently updating the playlists on my iPod and kept coming across all these musicians and bands that had a song or two that I really liked but didn’t really want to waste precious hard drive space to house their entire albums to. So finally, I just created a playlist called “1-Hit Wonders” and threw um all in there. I won’t tell ya everything I got in that playlist because I wanna leave that for you guys to come up with in the comment area below, but here are some of my favorites!

Biz Markie – “Just a Friend”

Yeah, I guess I used to listen to a lot of rap back in the day. Haha!

So how ’bout it? What/Who are your favorite 1-hit wonders???

Steelers or Packers? Who You Got?

February 4, 2011

It’s that time of year again… Das right! Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner. On one side, we got Big Ben, Troy’s hair and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ D, while on the other side, we have the cheeseheads and the air attack of Aaron Rodgers and company. Who’s your pick this year and why?

Super Bowl XLV
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Green Bay Packers

Me? I want Green Bay! Aside from the one week during the playoffs where he sat out and completely screwed my fantasy team (d’oh!), Rodgers was a beast all year! He seems like a nice guy too! Besides that, I’m not very fond of Roethlisberger. Gooooo Cheeseheads! 😉

P.S. While we’re at it, if there are any MMA fans still out there, who are your favorites for this weekend’s UFC 126?

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones
Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos
Chad Mendes vs. Michihiro Omigawa
Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Demetrious Johnson
Donald Cerrone vs. Paul Kelly
Mike Pierce vs. Kenny Robertson
Paul Taylor vs. Gabe Ruediger
Kyle Kingsbury vs. Ricardo Romero

Shoots den!

Aloha Friday!

June 4, 2010

Or should I say VHO7V Friday?

Well, this here is officially the final (work week) day for blogs on the Honolulu Advertiser site. Wow. An end of an era for sure. Although I’m one of the babies of the group, I still definitely feel the impact.

Hopefully, some of y’all will stick around and continue to read and participate as I attempt to move our WWE `Ohana to the new Star-Advertiser site.

Still not exactly sure what’s going to happen, but I guess I’ll find out with the rest of you come Monday. In the meantime, here’s a link to my personal blog just in case.

:: www.world-wide-ed.com ::

Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s not new, but since everyone’s posting theirs I figgah I’d do it too. 😛 Plus, you never know what’s going to happen on Monday…

Have a (final Advertiser) VHO7V Friday gang! See you bright and early Monday morning!

P.S. Don’t forget to read my latest AroundHawaii.com articles for June:

Fave Friday – Yo Momma!

May 28, 2010

Sorry peeps. Shmall kine slammed these days with the new gig and err-thing, but I’ll start by posting an image that kuya.d emailed me (probably cause it resembled my awesome art skills from last week Friday). Hehe!

Dude! Did You Gain Some Weight?
Dude! Did You Gain Some Weight?

Talk to me!
* Let’s stick with the jokes theme and post your favorite cut downs below. If you dare, you can even do “Yo momma” jokes (e.g. “Yo momma’s so fat, people jog around her to get exercise!”) Bahahaha, I still like that one.
* Surprisingly, nobody guessed Wednesday’s location yet, so let’s continue the guessing today. (Hint: it’s in Kailua!)
* Thoughts on American Idol results?
* Gonna miss Simon Cowell?
* Thoughts on Ron Artest’s buzzer beater and the Lakers’ narrow victory.
* Thoughts on the Magic/Celtics game today?
* Looking forward to Sex and the City 2?
* How about Eclipse (Twilight saga)?
* Prince of Persia?
* Rampage or Rashad?
* Weekend plans?

Holla! 🙂

Happy VHO7V Friday gang!

Fave Friday – Body Parts

May 21, 2010

Now before you go thinkin’ this is some kind of typically pervy post, hear me out yo.

So the other morning, I got out of the shower (still not pervy, I promise!) and felt something irritating my eye. So I scoped um out in my mirror and noticed a super lonnnng lash piercing the orbital.

Funny thing is this wasn’t the first time. In fact, my lash(es) tend to get in my eye more often than I care to count. I think I pretty much must have the weakest lashes in the history of all lashes.

So in honor of today’s topic, post your fave (or non fave) body parts in the comment area below. Feel free to list your own parts or from those of the opposite (or same?) sex. Also in honor of today’s topic, I’d like to present my skills to you in this captivating work of art. Go ahead. Take it all in. Bwahahahaha!

Fave Friday - Body Parts
Fave Friday – Body Parts

I’ll start:

From My Own Body…

Faves:

  • still gots a full head of hair (*knock on wood*)
  • big hands & big feet (which basically only means that I can palm a basketball and wear adult-sized shoes! Ahahaha!)
  • in relatively good shape for a person approaching *cough* years old

Non-Faves:

  • weakest lashes ever invented
  • single persistent/annoying hair that tickles the inside of my left nostril from time to time
  • can’t grow a mustache or beard to save my life

From the Opposite Sex…

Faves:

  • I wouldn’t have the faintest idea ’cause I don’t look anymore 8)
  • Besides I would’ve only looked at the heart and soul anyway! 8) 8) 8) Muhahahaha!

Non-Faves:

  • a ‘stache, espesh if it was fuller than mine! I’d be j!
  • wet armpits
  • being waaaaay too skinny or waaaaay too, um, jolly. 🙂

So wot? Got any to share? Feel free to include bodily functions like being too gassy or b.o…. You know, the good stuff. 😛

Have an awesome VHO7V Friday and weekend y’all!

Fave Friday – Teenage Crushes

May 14, 2010

Playboy Magazine in 3DSo supposedly, some magazine by the name of “Playboy” is jumping on the 3D bandwagon and coming out with a 3D edition of its own some time today. Playboy? I’ve never heard of it. What’s it all about? *grin*

In honor of this magazine I’ve never heard of, I was gonna ask you guys for your fave mags of all time, but we kinda-sorta did that one already. So instead, let’s focus on what every snotty-nosed teenager does what he reads this type of magazine: falls in love. In this case, it’s with Hope Dworaczyk.

Crushes. We’ve all had ’em. Not with Playboy models per se, but growing up with our raging hormones (yeah, I’m talking to you ladies too! 😛 ), we’ve all secretly (or not so secretly) had our eye on that cute girl/guy in our 5th period history class. (Dear lord, I’m dating myself!) Or perhaps we fell in love with that kid actor on the cover of Tiger Beat magazine, or that cool singer on MTV.

Whoevahz!

Just share your list and share your list good with the rest of the WWE `ohana. We promise not to judge… much! 8)

In no particular order, here are some of mine that I can remember, off the top of my head…

* Alicia Silverstonewhat ever happened to her anyway? Guess this site answers our questions.
* Patricia FordI was actually almost signed on to help her do her official web site, but things kinda fell through. That might’ve been fun eh?
* Pamela Anderson (NSFW) – at least until she got all crazy. Hehe!
* Danica McKellar“Wonder Years”! I always wanted to be “Kevin”! She’s actually a math nerd now!
* Christina ApplegateDem years on “Married with Children”… ’nuff said!
