What Would You Do for a Million Dollars?

So there’s a new movie coming out called The Box. Much like the 1993 movie Indecent Proposal, someone is offered $1 million in exchange for doing something questionable. Here’s the plot summary for The Box:

Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

So today’s Fun Day Monday topic is about this premise. WWYD (What Would You Do)?

Politically and principle-wise, I can easily tell you that I would never stoop to such levels no matter how much money I am given, but until I’m put in that position (like Norma and Arthur Lewis were), I really can’t answer for sure. Like in that Batman movie (The Dark Knight was it?), where the two ferries were pitted against each other. Oh, here’s a button that blows up the other ferry. Push it first and your ferry will be saved. And neither ferry pushed the button! WTH? Now that’s willpower! Hehe!

Fave Five Friday – Man Rules

Before our softball game last weekend, the team circled up and did a prayer. One of our teammates asked one of the new guys if holding hands was ok, and somebody else replied with “Yeah, just don’t interlock the fingers… Man Rule #3!”. Ahahaha! I thought that was pretty classic!

So it got me thinking. What other “Man Rules” do we have floating around out there? You know, dem rules that are unwritten and unspoken, but very well known.

Here are a few off the top of my head (and here are some I actually found from a previous post). Feel free to use the comment area below to add your own! 🙂

• Beer and Poke, it’s what’s for dinner.
• Boys don’t cry.
• You are disowned if you don’t know how to change your own oil or change a flat tire.
• Don’t watch sissy shows like The Hills. Oops! 😉
• Shaving/grooming should only be done around your mouth area.
• Man to man hugs should last no longer than 0.00001 seconds. 😛

Lucky We Live Hawaii? Let Us Count the Ways…

With every bad, there are ten times as many good. The median home prices here in Hawaii are insane with salaries often not where they should be, but we’ve got the ono kine grindz and wonderful weather, with the thousands and thousands of warm-hearted kama`aina to share it with (to name a few).

I often get asked why I stay here in Hawaii and I ask those very people why I would ever want to leave? We live in paradise. A place that most others can only dream about. Sure, there are certain trade offs, but I would rather live a longer and healthier life with the people I love the most, than be miserable looking for something that was home in the islands all along. It’s something you can’t put a price tag on and I wouldn’t trade that for anything else in the world… Period.

Besides the obvious “weather” answer, I’ll go with:

* Diverse cultures. Diverse cultures = diverse people (personalities, traditions, etc.) and diverse foods.

Where else can you go to a party and enjoy sashimi, beef broccoli, pancit, meat jhun, etc., with your Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, etc. friends from small kid time? Gotta love it! Lucky I Live Hawaii!

Fave Friday – T-Shirt

Returning home from a recent trip, I was sporting my “No Worry Beef Curry” T-shirt. Upon deplaning, the flight attendant noticed it, pointed and smiled, almost in an approval kinda way. (Well, at least I think it was the shirt she was smiling at and not my beefcake body! Ahahaha! 😛 ).

ENeeeeewaaaay, the shirt was dug up from an old “Ed’s stuff” box at the ‘rents’ house during a recent garage sale and has become one of my favorites (again) as of late. As with errything, the incident above made me think of you guys and what might be of interest for this here blog community. So here it is.

Thanks to his work schedule, Coconut Willy was the very first one to put in guesses for last week’s contest and got a jaw droppin’ 5 out of 6 off the bat. Reasons to Dump

I just re-read that title and it sounded a bit crude… AND… that is exactly why I left it as is. Only high quality stuffs here after all. 😛

But before you think I’m some sorta mongrel, lemme explain.

I recently read this article: 11 Reasons He Dumped You and thought it might be a good way to get us a talkin’. Author Rich Santos listed 11 reasons why he dumped previous girlfriends as a rebuttal to a Women’s Health article he read on the very same topic (from the female perspective).

In a nutshell, they were:

• I Got Bored
• One of Us Was Too Serious
• Burnout
• I Was Tempted To Cheat
• All My Friends Broke Up With Their Girlfriends
• Divergent Lives
• Feeling Selfish
• I “Misread” My Feelings
• My Friends Or Family Didn’t Like Her
