Fave Friday – Yo Momma!

May 28, 2010

Sorry peeps. Shmall kine slammed these days with the new gig and err-thing, but I’ll start by posting an image that kuya.d emailed me (probably cause it resembled my awesome art skills from last week Friday). Hehe!

Dude! Did You Gain Some Weight?
Dude! Did You Gain Some Weight?

Talk to me!
* Let’s stick with the jokes theme and post your favorite cut downs below. If you dare, you can even do “Yo momma” jokes (e.g. “Yo momma’s so fat, people jog around her to get exercise!”) Bahahaha, I still like that one.
* Surprisingly, nobody guessed Wednesday’s location yet, so let’s continue the guessing today. (Hint: it’s in Kailua!)
* Thoughts on American Idol results?
* Gonna miss Simon Cowell?
* Thoughts on Ron Artest’s buzzer beater and the Lakers’ narrow victory.
* Thoughts on the Magic/Celtics game today?
* Looking forward to Sex and the City 2?
* How about Eclipse (Twilight saga)?
* Prince of Persia?
* Rampage or Rashad?
* Weekend plans?

Holla! 🙂

Happy VHO7V Friday gang!

Fave Friday – Body Parts

May 21, 2010

Now before you go thinkin’ this is some kind of typically pervy post, hear me out yo.

So the other morning, I got out of the shower (still not pervy, I promise!) and felt something irritating my eye. So I scoped um out in my mirror and noticed a super lonnnng lash piercing the orbital.

Funny thing is this wasn’t the first time. In fact, my lash(es) tend to get in my eye more often than I care to count. I think I pretty much must have the weakest lashes in the history of all lashes.

So in honor of today’s topic, post your fave (or non fave) body parts in the comment area below. Feel free to list your own parts or from those of the opposite (or same?) sex. Also in honor of today’s topic, I’d like to present my skills to you in this captivating work of art. Go ahead. Take it all in. Bwahahahaha!

Fave Friday - Body Parts
Fave Friday – Body Parts

I’ll start:

From My Own Body…

Faves:

  • still gots a full head of hair (*knock on wood*)
  • big hands & big feet (which basically only means that I can palm a basketball and wear adult-sized shoes! Ahahaha!)
  • in relatively good shape for a person approaching *cough* years old

Non-Faves:

  • weakest lashes ever invented
  • single persistent/annoying hair that tickles the inside of my left nostril from time to time
  • can’t grow a mustache or beard to save my life

From the Opposite Sex…

Faves:

  • I wouldn’t have the faintest idea ’cause I don’t look anymore 8)
  • Besides I would’ve only looked at the heart and soul anyway! 8) 8) 8) Muhahahaha!

Non-Faves:

  • a ‘stache, espesh if it was fuller than mine! I’d be j!
  • wet armpits
  • being waaaaay too skinny or waaaaay too, um, jolly. 🙂

So wot? Got any to share? Feel free to include bodily functions like being too gassy or b.o…. You know, the good stuff. 😛

Have an awesome VHO7V Friday and weekend y’all!

Fave Friday – Teenage Crushes

May 14, 2010

Playboy Magazine in 3DSo supposedly, some magazine by the name of “Playboy” is jumping on the 3D bandwagon and coming out with a 3D edition of its own some time today. Playboy? I’ve never heard of it. What’s it all about? *grin*

In honor of this magazine I’ve never heard of, I was gonna ask you guys for your fave mags of all time, but we kinda-sorta did that one already. So instead, let’s focus on what every snotty-nosed teenager does what he reads this type of magazine: falls in love. In this case, it’s with Hope Dworaczyk.

Crushes. We’ve all had ’em. Not with Playboy models per se, but growing up with our raging hormones (yeah, I’m talking to you ladies too! 😛 ), we’ve all secretly (or not so secretly) had our eye on that cute girl/guy in our 5th period history class. (Dear lord, I’m dating myself!) Or perhaps we fell in love with that kid actor on the cover of Tiger Beat magazine, or that cool singer on MTV.

Whoevahz!

Just share your list and share your list good with the rest of the WWE `ohana. We promise not to judge… much! 8)

In no particular order, here are some of mine that I can remember, off the top of my head…

* Alicia Silverstonewhat ever happened to her anyway? Guess this site answers our questions.
* Patricia FordI was actually almost signed on to help her do her official web site, but things kinda fell through. That might’ve been fun eh?
* Pamela Anderson (NSFW) – at least until she got all crazy. Hehe!
* Danica McKellar“Wonder Years”! I always wanted to be “Kevin”! She’s actually a math nerd now!
* Christina ApplegateDem years on “Married with Children”… ’nuff said!
* Girl in my 7th grade math class! – Shhh! LOL!
* Girl in my college history class! – too bad she didn’t know I existed! LOL!

I know, lots yeah!? Da worst part is I know I’m missing some. Bahahaha! Nah, not dat bad… I think!

BTW, do you guys know what a “unicorn” is? My co-worker says that a “unicorn” is someone that you’ll always have feelings for, no matter how long it has been. Is it true that we all have that one “unicorn” in life???

Talk to me!
* What are your thoughts of Playboy Magazine going 3D?
* Post your list of crushes (during your teenage years) in the comment area below! Can be celebs or peeps you know IRL.
* What do you think of the “unicorn” theory? Do you have your own unicorn?

Hijack This!
* Surprised that Cleveland lost to Boston yesterday? What do you think of Bron Bron’s future in Cleveland? How do you think Boston stacks up against my boys in blue (Orlando)?
* Thoughts on Michael Lynche’s departure from American Idol? Think he has a future in music?
* Big weekend planned?

Have a happy VH07v Friday (and weekend) y’all! Shooooooots! 🙂

Fave Friday – Dream Jobs

May 7, 2010

A-ight. I know we’ve all thought about this one.

Whether you’re stuck at a dead-end place that you utterly despise, or you’re fairly happy, I’m sure we’ve all, at one point or another, drifted off to la-la land real quick-like, and dreamt about that ultimate job. The oh-so-lusciously perfect dream job that you can envision yourself at, every single day of your waking life, and be completely happy.

Here’s your opportunity to share your dream with the WWE `ohana (and, perhaps, give some of us ideas *grin*). Dream big yo. The world is your oyster.

Hurr’s my list:

* Professional Baseball Player – C’mon now. I’ll be playing a sport I love, making millions while doing so, with tons of fans chasing me around and begging for my autograph. Any questions? LOL!
* Travel TV Host – (see above). LOL! Nah, nah! I just think that you’d get to travel the world and see a lot of things that the every day person wouldn’t normally be able to see and do. Das da life!
* Full-Time Food/Hawaii/Travel Blogger – I eat, travel, blog and live in Hawaii already. If someone would just pay me to do it full time. Pshhh. Where do I sign up?
* Real Estate Mogul – Investing in key properties and just sitting back as the checks roll in every month? Wins!
* Own a Successful Business – Nothing like the feeling of being your own boss. Controlling your own destiny. Can’t get any bettah than that!
* Part-Time Job “Just to Keep Busy” – In this scenario, I would have already won the lottery, just FYI. Ahahaha! I would just need a part-time job (think golf course employee or lifeguard) so I won’t go crazy in between gallivanting around the globe and laying on the beach working on my tan.

So what say you? Gimme some ideas!

New Jobby Job!

On a side note, I picked this topic because as of today, I have officially started my new job in our new “Wireless” department. It’s pretty nerve-wracking, but exciting at the same time. I’ve been so entrenched in the web world for over 15 years (12-13 professionally), that it’ll be good to take on a new challenge – head on – at this point in my life/career (though I still think a lot of my web skills will translate well in this new position). I truly think the world of wireless is the wave of the future, with a lot of growth potential so I really look forward to what the future – in the industry as well as in the community – brings.

K, enough, before I bore your head off. Post your dream job(s) in the comment area below!

LOL! Sorry, had to slide that obligatory (photo) plug in dea one quick one. Couldn’t resist. Hahaha!

Have a happy VHO7V Friday y’all!

Fave Friday – Weekend Activities

April 30, 2010

So this weekend for me, as it is for most of us I’m sure, is a pretty hectic one. Here’s just a snippet of what’s goin’ down (down down down down) in one day:

* 6AM – Since tomorrow lands on the 1st of the month, I will be going in early to work to take care of some of our monthly updates for our web presences.
* 8AM – Back home to sleep (but, in reality, probably not)
* 10AM-ish – Head to Sears to get a part for our dryer
* 11AM-ish – I really shouldn’t, but I might want to take a peek at the new Droid Incredible by HTC (if I didn’t already buy it by the time this post goes live *evil grin*), which was just released to the public yesterday.
* 1PM – Meeting with Broker to discuss some options for my Real Estate license.
* 3PM – UH Baseball game (possibly) See note below for FREE tickets!
* 6PM – Was asked by a friend to cover the Galaxy MMA event at the Blaisdell (see details at bottom).
* 9PM-ish – Out with some friends after (possibly)

Some of these are chores/errands, some are for fun. Some is for work, some personal… Ideally, the weekends are supposed to be used to relax, but it never seems to work out that way yeah? So hurr’s our Fave Friday topic for this week:

If you could do anything you wanted
for an entire weekend,
what would you do and why?

I would probably just relax at home in my underwear and eat pizza and watch TV all day. TMI? Haha, nah, nah, das gross! I would probably just want to take a neighbor island trip with wifey and simply unwind. Turn off the cell phone, sit on the beach, eat good grindz, and just chill. Those Corona commercials on the beach always make me jealous! Lottery, where are you? 😛

So what about you? What would you do?

Galaxy MMA Trailer

Local boy Junk and Brazilian Scherner have both competed in the UFC and have something to prove in the main event.

For the Co-Main Event, although I love Tyson Nam’s fighting style, I gotta pull for Keola Silva. Ola was our resident wrestling expert when I was training stand-up at HMC, and an overall good guy. Here’s some info about him, as told by a couple of his peers:

“He is a school teacher and a coach for wrestling at Kamehameha High school…he also dedicates a lot of time to teaching a wrestling class out of HMC and was there this week to teach even though he has his fight coming up…Ola is the kind of guy that puts himself and everything on the side to help out his students and friends…”
– Kevin Yoshida (HMC owner/sensei)

“Ola has the innate ability to simplify the most complex wrestling moves so that even a person who has NO wrestling experience will understand. His talent does not only lie within his coaching, though. He can speak Hawaiian, has weekly music gigs at Blue Ocean Thai, and recently received his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Leandro Nyza. Overall, he’s just an awesome person to know and an even better training partner. He proves to you that you can turn your “can’ts” into “cans.” If can, can. If no can, you still can!”
– Lea Young (fellow HMC student)

Can’t forget to also send some love to my high school classmate Todd Tanaka and his school Team HK, who will have two fighters (Zack Pang and Chris Templo) represented in the amateur bouts. Templo will actually be fighting HMC’s Ryan Clay. Shmall kine torn on that one. 😉

Anyway, good luck to all fighters and, most importantly, be safe.

Fave Friday: Hawaiian Treat (Desert Island Edition)

April 23, 2010

It’s been a while, but let’s take a stroll back on memory lane and buss’ another Desert Island game/survey. Y’all know how it works so I won’t get into too much detail explaining it, but fast kine, these are things that you just can’t live without if stuck on a desert island, like, for-EVA.

Today’s Desert Island item: “Hawaiian Treat”.

You can interpret “treat” howevah you like cause it could be anything from food to a foine female (or handsome hunk), but the rule is that it’s gotsta be “Hawaiian”.

* Poke would be the easy/expected answer from me, but after 5 straight months of non-stop poke-ing, as well as yesterday’s news about salmonella poisoning, I’m gonna mix things up and not be so predictable (for once). 😛

Hmmm… I really like Haupia and Kulolo, but I think I’d get large (and in charge) eating that errry day. I LOOOOVE Lau Lau, but I wonder if I’d get tired of it after a while… I guess then, I’d choose:

* Chicken Long Rice.

It could pass as a soup dish, a noodle dish, AND a chicken dish… enough to keep me interested at least for a little while I think. Oh yeah, and

* Primo Beer and an ukulele

Those count as “Hawaiian” right?

Holla!
* What are the “Hawaiian Treats” you’d bring to our Desert Island?  If you say a “Hawaiian” genie in a bottle with three more wishes, I’m gonna die. 😛
* Thoughts on yesterday’s NFL Draft? How did your team do? Thoughts on Tyson Alualu at #10? Am I the only one who thinks Tim Tebow will prove his doubters wrong?
* Thoughts on the NBA playoffs? Isn’t Kevin Durant just a beast!? Feel sorry for Portland? (First Jordan, now this?)
* Thoughts on Roy Halladay’s even-better-than-expected, awesome start for the Phills?
* Thoughts on Jeremy Lay leaving the UH Men’s Basketball program and all of the other activity coach Gib Arnold is up to?
* Gonna order WEC’s first PPV event: Aldo vs. Faber? Who you pickin’? I say Aldo still. Also, not sure if they’re gonna air it, but don’t forget to root for local boy Brandon Visher on the undercard.
* Any exciting plans for the weekend?
* Did you see Brian Kownacki and his Fordham Flip?

I think we’re gonna be helping wifey’s friend with wedding stuff as well as possible house hunting/browsing this Sunday. If you own or know of anyone who owns a reasonably-priced crib in town (Oahu), holla! WWE special discount? 8)

Happy VHO7V Friday! Have a good weekend y’all!

Fave Friday: Cover Songs

April 16, 2010

First up. Gotsta give props where props are due. Bruddah kuya.d held it down the last two days with his 209 garnering WIH post. Holy smokes! Much love to all of you who participated in the convo as well! And with that said…

Jason Mraz‘s song “I’m Yours” (whose popularity can actually be traced back to Hawaii’s support) is probably one of the most over played/over done songs in recent history. We’ve seen it on American Idol, all over Youtube, and our very own band Ten Feet even covered it.

Not that that’s a bad thing. Mraz is probably flattered that so many people enjoy his music enough to want to redo it.

Jason Mraz – “I’m Yours”

One band I’ve been grooving out to lately is this a capella band called Straight No Chaser and they have a version of “I’m Yours” (which includes an Iz-ish version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”). Pretty cool. Check it.

Straight No Chaser – “I’m Yours/Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

And let’s not forget the cute, little kid who sang “I’m Yours” in this viral hit:

Little Kid on Youtube – “I’m Yours”

So today’s “Fave Friday” be on that very topic: Cover Songs. Rather than just listing the song name and the various artists who covered it though, let’s make things fun and a little more interactive.

Talk to us!
* Write the name of a covered song and wait for the next person commenting to guess who the original artist, as well as those bands who covered it, was/were.
* Write the name of a band, and wait for the next person commenting to guess the covered song(s) and who the original artist(s) was/were.
* Write the name of a song you wish would be covered and by who.
* Link to your favorite version of “I’m Yours”
* Anything else you like add.

K, your turn! 🙂

Happy VHO7V Friday! Have a good weekend and I’ll see y’all on Monday! 🙂

Fave Friday: Sports

April 9, 2010

First thing’s first. As an MMA fan, I would be remiss if I did not mention tomorrow’s big UFC card that will showcase two of our very own, local, Hawaii boys: Hilo’s BJ Penn and Maui’s Kendall Grove.

World Wide Ed
Local Boys: Lightweight Champ BJ Penn (left) and Middleweight Contender Kendall Grove (right)

Lightweight champ BJ Penn (remember him?) will be defending his belt against top contender Frankie Edgar, while middleweight standout Kendall Grove will take on wrestler Mark Munoz. See bottom for all the details.

A-ight with that outta the way, let’s get today’s Fave Friday show on the road. Now I know the title says “Sports”, but for those of you who aren’t big fans of the stick and ball kine games, feel free to list “Activities” like hiking or swimming, etc. Here’s my list:

Fave Sports to Watch:

* Baseball – Sooooo happy the 2010 season is under way again! Go “pills” right uncle jimmy? 😛 Don’t know what it is, but I could just sit there and watch a whole game without getting bored at all.
* MMA – I used to be all crazy widit and watch every second of every event, but now, with limited watching hours in my day, I pretty much just focus on the UFC, WEC and some Strikeforce events with spot watching of the other ones like Bellator. Even then, I fast forward through the boring fights. I really do miss HDNet and their MMA coverage, especially with Dream. BTW, while we’re on the topic of MMA and local boys, don’t forget to support Brad Tavares who is reppin’ Hawaii on this season’s cast of the Ultimate Fighter, Wednesday nights at 7PM on Spike TV (Oceanic Cable 559 or HD 1559).
* Basketball – Orlando’s my team, but I’ll watch good matchups sometimes. UH is fun watching live, but it’s been really depressing the last few years. 😦
* Football (I guess) – only to follow my fantasy players. LOL! Live games at UH are fun too, but I like the tailgating more! 😛
* Boxing – used to watch a lot, until MMA came along and killed it! RIP. 😉

Fave Sports/Activities to Do:

* Snowboarding – snowboarding is life. Period.
* Jiu Jitsu – don’t get to roll as much as in the past, but the cognitive part of it is soooo interesting to me.
* Baseball/Softball – my first sport ever = my first love.
* Basketball – played a lot of hoops in high school and college, but kinda slowed down later in life. I should get back into it again.
* Swimming – ever since training for the Tinman, I’ve been itching to get back in the water on the regular. Not only is it a good workout, but you get a mean tan to boot.

So what sports or activities do you like to watch/play? Holla!

In other sports-related news, what do you think of Nike’s new commercial with Tiger Woods, using his dad’s voice as the narrative?
