Yes, it’s a rare Monday post, but this one is for good reason. It combines several of my loves in one!
- Fresh Poke – check!
- Ono Kine Grindz – check!
- AND… a “New” Restaurant announcement – check!
I put “new” in quotes because Nico’s Pier 38’s owner Nicolas Chaize is no stranger to the restaurant biz. His original restaurant has been in business for almost 8 years. Now, located practically across the street diagonally, his new restaurant is three times the size and even includes a fresh fish market! Can’t get any fresher fish than that!
The soft launch was last week Thursday (01/19/12) and already on Friday (01/20/12), without any advertising or fanfare, the new Nico’s was PACKED. Here are some scenes from that day…

Now with new dinner hours (5pm-9pm), I can see this bar – with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean – getting a lot of action.

HUGE! They even have bottled drinks, coffee, bait, and a small selection of market type products (e.g. sugar, SPAM, sauces, chips, noodles, etc.)

Since the restaurant and fish market are practically located on the pier, the fish is as fresh as you can get! (Read my poke article covering the United Fishing Agency Honolulu Fish Auction at Pier 38).

Weekly T-Shirt Update!
The graphic/screen designer suggested that the artwork on the front be 12″ (instead of the original 9″ or 10″) so we went with what he suggested since he’s the pro after all. Hopefully it turns out OK.
Stickers! I’ve been passing them out to my closer group of friends so you may start seeing them here and there (hopefully). If you see them, or, if you get one from me, please take a photo of it in action (where it’s stuck on) for me. I’m collecting it for the Facebook page. 🙂
