What Would You Do for a Million Dollars?

October 26, 2009

So there’s a new movie coming out called The Box. Much like the 1993 movie Indecent Proposal, someone is offered $1 million in exchange for doing something questionable. Here’s the plot summary for The Box:

Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

So today’s Fun Day Monday topic is about this premise. WWYD (What Would You Do)?

Politically and principle-wise, I can easily tell you that I would never stoop to such levels no matter how much money I am given, but until I’m put in that position (like Norma and Arthur Lewis were), I really can’t answer for sure. Like in that Batman movie (The Dark Knight was it?), where the two ferries were pitted against each other. Oh, here’s a button that blows up the other ferry. Push it first and your ferry will be saved. And neither ferry pushed the button! WTH? Now that’s willpower! Hehe!

In the comment area, post your thoughts on this moral dilemma. Also, what you would do if faced with the situation in The Box. Or how about Indecent Proposal? Or even the Dark Knight one. Holla atcho boy.

Guy Rule: Every Other Seat Please

July 22, 2008

So the other night when I went with Kelv (and Bari folks, even though we got separated! 😛 ) to watch the premiere of The Dark Knight, it made me think of something funny we as guys do.

Have you ever noticed that guys, in an act of trying to be too cool for school, have to NOT sit next to each other? At the movies, or sporting events or even in class, if the crowd/seating permits it, we will leave an open seat between us and another dude or be seen as you know what (not manly). Hehe, yeah, I’m being politically correct, but you know what I mean. On top of that, we just gotsta slouch way back in our chair, lean to the side and spread our legs like a gymnast in order to maintain that level of cool.

The theater was so packed that this was not even remotely possible, but I know you’ve seen it before. And it’s pretty funny when you really think about it. I don’t know what it is. Maybe we just need our personal space, maybe we don’t want another guy’s hairy leg touching ours, or maybe, just maybe, the single guys are leaving room for a hot chick to sit down and make our day. OK, NOT, but help me think of this baffler won’tcha?

BTW, before the movie started, some dude yelled out “Mario Kart!” and prompted everyone to join his Multiplayer network. At first I thought that he was just some annoying clown who wanted attention, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that this man was a genius! When I told the lady that story the next day, she was like, “I bet you wish you brought your DS huh?” And I was like “YEAH!” Dammit. Anyway, I will do a Mario Kart post later, but thought I’d share that little tidbit for today. Happy Tuesday!

Talk to me!
* Why do guys feel the urge to leave a seat open between ’em?
* Do girls really care if we sit right next to each other?
* Any interest in a future Mario Kart post?

Fave Five Friday – Hawaii Television Stations

July 18, 2008

*yawn* Sorry for the late post, but The Dark Knight took a toll on me last night. If you weren’t one of us nerds who saw it last night, I would recommend watching it. Great action, out of this world acting by the late Heath Ledger (the Joker), and decent storyline. Just prepare yourself for 2 and a half hours of movie time. *stretch*

Anyway, it’s Friday again, and that means the ever-popular (in my own mind) Fave Five Friday. Since we did Hawaii Radio Stations last week, let’s do the next logical thing and do Hawaii Television Stations. I’ll start again… Hurr we go!

  5. VH1 – When I wanna get my reality on like Donkey Kong (Oceanic Digital Channel 0591)

Other situational favorites include A&E: more reality programming including real estate stuffs (0547 or 1547), the Premium On Demand Channels (HBO On Demand, Showtime On Demand, etc.), Food Network: when I’m hungry or for recipe inspiration (0321 or 1321), TBS: Office reruns, My Boys, etc. (0551 or 1551), OC16 (0016 or 1016), MTV: Hills… did I just say that? The Dark Knight Opens Tonight Son!

July 17, 2008

Remember the days when getting excited over a movie based on a comic book/cartoon was considered nerdy? Well, call me Erkle because Hooooleeeee SHEMOKES! The Dark Knight looks pretty !#$% intense!

With a star-studded cast that includes Christian Bale, the late Heath Ledger (as the Joker), Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman (am I the only one who thinks he’s in every single movie ever?), the excitement and interest for this movie intensifies.

Talk to me:
Who’s gonna head down to watch The Dark Knight tonight when it opens in theaters at midnight? Looks like a winnah to me cuz! Holla!
