Hawaii Officially Launches TWC WiFi

September 19, 2013

At an event at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center last week, Oceanic Time Warner Cable officially announced that the company has begun deployment of TWC WiFi™, a statewide WiFi Hotspot network for its customers. Access to the TWC WiFi network is free to Oceanic Time Warner Cable customers with Standard Internet or above and to Oceanic Time Warner Cable Business Class Internet customers.

“Increasingly, our Hawaii customers want to take their high-speed Internet with them out of the home and on-the-go,” said Oceanic President Bob Barlow. “The TWC WiFi network we’re building for Hawaii will allow our customers to greatly maximize their TWC Internet subscription – at no additional charge.”

On Oahu, customers can access over 400 TWC WiFi Hotspots with hundreds more coming in 2013 as Oceanic Time Warner Cable builds out the network. TWC WiFi will be introduced at popular locations where residents eat, live and play. Recent additions are Sunset Beach, Kailua District Park and the Stan Sheriff Center. Fave Friday: Superpowers

February 19, 2010

We’ve all dreamt it I’m sho. Having that one super power that will take us over the top. The man amongst men. The woman amongst women. Would be nice right?

Well, instead of just talking about and dreaming about it, let’s put it on paper and make it a goal. You know what they say, write down your goals and you will achieve them. Soooo, post your ideal super power below and it shall become reality. 😛 K, maybe not, but play along won’tcha? 8)

At first, I thought of the most logical choices:

* Flying/Teleportation: Going on a trip, anywhere in the world be sa-weet!
* Living forever: I am Team Edward after all… 😉
* Invisibility/X-Ray Vision: duh! Ya bettah axe somebody rayboyjr why. 😛 Joking!

But the more and more I think about it, I think my superpower would simply be to make fo’ real kine money with the wave of my hands. See, I’m easy. 😛

Why? Well, because if I had an unlimited amount of cash flow, I would personally own my own jet or teleporting machine to travel. I could just buy a hyperbaric chamber to live (almost) forever. I could just pay to get an invisibility suit or x-ray goggles. Well, if they ever existed. So you see, with money out of thin air, I could just about do what I want. Muhahahaha!

I know, it ‘s the root of all evil, but what they hey, we’re living in the fantasy world right now.

So what’s your superpower wish? Post it below and I’ll buy it for ya! 😉

Need some ideas? Check out this listing from Wikipedia!

Happy VH07V Friday y’all! Have a great weekend!

P.S. Tomorrow night, the UH Rainbow Men’s Basketball Team takes on Cal Poly at 8PM at the Stan Sheriff Center in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable sponsored ESPN Bracketbuster game. Oceanic will be passing out an eco-friendly tote bag for the first 2,000 fans. Come on down if you can! (The Wahine are also in action earlier that night, taking on La Tech at 5PM.) Go Bows! 🙂

Fave Friday: Touristy Thangs

December 11, 2009

Since my friends were in from outta town recently, I decided to take a vacation day the other day and tag along with them as they took care of some errands. We did some local kine stuffs (ate at Shige’s Saimin Stand in Wahiawa, and went to the swap meet), and we also did some touristy kine stuffs (checked out Dole Plantation, and went to the swap meet 😛 ), and actually had quite a good time playing tourist.

Even though many of us have lived in the islands our entire lives, ain’t it still fun to hit up the north shore for some shave ice or stay at a hotel in “waiks” from time to time, just because? Why let the tourists have all the fun in this beautiful state we call home? Let’s list our fave things to do in the islands to “play tourist”. Who knows? Maybe some of you will even do a few of these this weekend. 🙂 Hurr’s mine:

1) Travel to a neighbor island – OK, so technically, I actually AM a tourist when I travel outside of Oahu, but still, it’s fun, and yet, I still feel “local”, naw mean?
2) Show “real” tourists around – I get many visitors from the mainland as well as the muthaland, and there’s no greater joy I get from seeing their faces light up when I show them those great places to eat, drink and be merry!
3) North shore ack-shon – Growing up in town and east Oahu, the north shore was always so far for me that I rarely got to get out there (it was like going to another planet!). Whenever I hit up Haleiwa town or check out the shrimp trucks or get out to Laie side, it’s always new and fun.
4) Stay in Waiks – It’s always fun to feel how the tourists feel when they visit us.
5) Cruise Waiks – Just park anywhere in Waikiki (probably at the Zoo or along the Ala Wai) and walk up and down Kalakaua Ave (and/or Kuhio). Fun times!

So how do you guys play tourist? Post your thoughts in the comment area below!

Happy VHO7V Friday, and have a great weekend y’all! 🙂 Shoots!

* Our UH Rainbow Warriors are taking on Chicago State at the Stan Sheriff Center. Support the Bows as well! If you can’t make it to the game, you can always order it on TV! 8)

Survey Thursday – Are You a Fan of UH Men’s Basketball?

February 19, 2009

* Are you a fan of the University of Hawaii Men’s Basketball program? More importantly, are you going to the game this Saturday?

I know, I know. It’s hard to be one after a gut-wrenching loss to Nevada last Saturday at home (*crossing my fingers for their nationally televised matchup against Fresno State today*)… but now, there’s more reason to come support the ‘Bows this Saturday at 7:05PM at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Not only is it the second to the last home game for the season (wipe back those tears!), it is the big Oceanic Time Warner Cable sponsored game! *grin* The first 1,000 fans through the gates gets a blue, eco-friendly Oceanic/ESPNU/Food Network/HGTV bag… great for grocery shopping! Check-check-check it out!
