A-ight y’all. Since I’ve been depressed and crying my eyes out over the lack of comments lately, I made this week’s pics supah duuuuuupah easy! Hopefully we can give the blog a little jolt this week. 🙂
We are super excited to announce that VH07V will have a booth at the uber popular Honolulu Night Market taking place from 6pm-11pm next Saturday, 6/15 in Kakaako (Auahi Street).
We’ll be fully stocked (including our new Tron and Racerback designs) at our booth, which will be located in the “Pinch of Salt” Warehouse during the event. Come on by for special, show only pricing!
My interview with bruddah Chad Owens (called “Chad Owens – A Born Fighter“) got posted to AroundHawaii earlier this week. Click the image below to check it out and watch the video as well.
Last week, the good people at Hawaii Self Storage recognized and awarded 10 local public school students with a 4 year renewable scholarship ($4000 annually) to a college or university of their choice. In attendance for the night was Hawaii Self Storage owner Mr. Mike Wood and his lovely wife Joanne, VP of Operations Tony Goulart, and VP of Marketing and Sales Shaun Salvador. Serving as the “Master of Ceremonies” for the night was one half of the Aloha Boyz on 93.1 The Paina, Mr. Kaleo Pilanca.
* VH07V Spotted!
This week’s “SPOTTED!” shot is of Tomo-san from one of my favorite eats in town: Yajima-Ya Lunch Wagon. He was wearing his Green/White VH07V tee when Guy Hagi and Augie T went to visit him for a recent episode of Cheap Eats. Click on the photo below to watch the clip.
Woah, I think everyone is still recovering from the their New Year parties l’dat. Well, that or my pictures stay too hard again. Haha! Let’s try some easy ones!
This week’s “Spotted” shot for VH07V is of University of Hawaii Men’s Basketball star Forward Isaac Fotu. Bruddah Isaac (@Ifotu42) and I got to talking on Twitter and it turns out that he likes the brand. He wanted to buy some VH07V gear so we met up for the exchange. What a cool guy! As a season ticket holder, I was stoked to meet one of the team’s baddest players (IMO)! Best of luck to Isaac and the rest of the team this season! And mahalo again for the support Isaac!
As always, a big mahalos to everyone for your support and for helping to spread the VH07V! 8)
MISSING CAT!
Our friends’ cat Hachi has been missing for the last 13 days and I need your help finding him. Please Share this blog with all of your Mililani friends so that we can bring him safely home to his owners. Here’s a personal note from them:
Our cat, Hachi, has been missing since December 27th. We recently moved back to the Mililani Uka area and we think that he might have gotten disoriented. He is 4 years old, black and white with a pink nose, and is medium/large (14 lbs) in size. His back is more black than white. If he is seen, please text or call 808-542-9385 or 808-469-6960.
It’s been another one of those cray cray weeks y’all! After Rice Fest is pau, hopefully things will get a little more back to normal. But until then, we’ve got another one pic week…. We’ll try to make it easy this time so we can get a skosh more than 13 comments. 😛

For this week’s “Spotted“, we have another video of a little SkinnyHawaiians silliness involving everyone’s favorite drink: Green River. A few months ago, I posed a question out to y’all about where the BIL can find some Green River in Hawaii these days. After researching that, I actually tried to make it on my own and suddenly became an expert at it. 😛 Here’s how that turned out…
* My two new colorways are FINALLY in! Gray/Green for the new football season and Blue/Pink (partially for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk)! Both are selling like hotcakes so far, especially the Gray/Green one!
* Speaking of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, my friend Shari continues to sell products and get mad donations for her team: Team VH07V! As of this writing, her team is up to $625 in donations and is at 63% of her $1,000 goal. Help them reach that goal by clicking on that link and making your tax deductible donation! I will also personally donate proceeds from the sale of the Blue/Pink VH07V shirts during this drive right back to Shari and her team. If you’d like to join her team and walk, click on this link.
* Last week’s tailgating kine action prior to the Hawaii Warriors vs. Lamar Cardinals game was a great success. Did you guys go? Got to hang out with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time and have a few before the game. Even got a good seat to catch a glimpse of the first ever Warrior Walk, a tradition that coach Norm Chow instituted this year where the players and coaches walk through the crowd before heading towards the stadium. Here’s some footage I was able to catch of the first ever Warrior Walk:
Warrior Walk – First Hawaii Warrior Walk Before Lamar Game
* As one of the sponsors for this year’s Rice Fest (duh!), VH07V will be responsible for producing both the official Rice Fest shirt (for sale at the event at the VH07V booth) and the shirt for all volunteers. Check out this sample for our volunteers. Pretty legit right? 🙂

Don’t forget, this Saturday (Sept 22 from 8am-1pm), my home storage facility – Hawaii Self Storage in Mililani – will be holding a “Garage Sale” to help support the Hawaii Meth Project. Buy great stuff and support a good cause at the same time. If you wanna pick up some VH07V merch while you’re there *grin* , message me on Facebook and I’ll see if I can swing by and meet you at my unit.
This year’s Rice Fest will be held next week Saturday, September 29th from 11am-7pm at Ward Centers! There will be cooking demonstrations from Chef Mavro of Chef Mavro Restaurant and his partners Stephanie Lum and Shawn Ching of Hawaii News Now, and Grant Kawasaki of Hawaiian Grown TV & Hawaiian Grown Kitchen and his partner Justin Cruz from KHON2, Santa Miyoshi of Tokkuri Tei defending his “Riceipe” contest belt, live entertainment by Jody Kamisato & ‘Uke’s Rising Stars and Jon Yamasato, and taiko drumming from Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko Hawaii, our 3rd annual SPAM Musubi eating contest, and our attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s Largest SPAM Musubi! For this week’s “Spotted“, we have Japanese ice skating legend Miwa Nishida as she sports her Blue/White Logo T colorway during a recent practice session at the Olympic Prep Arena in Yokohama Japan. Here’s Miwa’s blog post about it!
* Still waiting for my two new colorways to come in. Gray/Green for the new football season and Blue/Pink (partially) for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk (and because it looks cool! 😉 ). Will keep y’all posted!
* Speaking of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, my friend Shari has been ON FIRE with collecting donations/pledges for her team: Team VH07V! As of this writing, her team is up to $550 in donations and is #1 so far amongst all teams from Hawaii. * Other than that, I’ve been running low on a lot of stock just waiting for my “fill-in” shirt request to get filled. I plan on being fully loaded just in time for the new football season and the upcoming Rice Fest on the 29th.
* Depending on the tailgating sitch, I plan on being in the parking lot at Aloha Stadium this Saturday prior to the first UH Warrior home game. You guys going? If you wanna stop by and ask questions about VH07V or see some samples (or just hang out), holla!
* Last week, I visited my sticker guy on Maui to talk “bidness”. Found out his shop also did hats. It turned out to be quite the productive visit as I was able to get a bunch of new hat styles produced super fast kine (same day!). Which one do you like da bes?

And lastly… Jon Yamasato, a fellow Kaiser alumni reached out to me and asked if I could help support his friend Jay Veltri, who, at just 33 years old, is in the middle of his 2nd “battle for survivorship” with cancer.
This Saturday, September 8, 2012, the day before Jay’s 34th birthday, there will be a fundraiser held at a private estate at Paiko Lagoon (near Kuliouou). Suggested ticket donation is $25. The festivities will include a live band, buffet, children’s activities, a silent auction, raffle prizes and more! For fundraising ticket information, visit jayveltri.com.
I don’t know Jay personally, but because of our many mutual friends, it feels like I do, so I donated to his fight. If you are also able to donate to his fight or purchase tickets for the fundraising event this Saturday, please do. And please Pray for Jay… Mahalo!
Ho, August 29th already… Exactly one month away from this year’s Rice Fest. So fast yeah?
Anyway, sorry (again!), was slammed at work all day yesterday and had one late softball game last night so I could only muster up the energy for one photo this week. I’ll try to respond to last week’s comments soon too!
If you’ve been to this week’s photo location, this one is duck soup. How you like the stealth shot with my arm inside? LOL! Good luck y’all!

* Here’s a mockup of a couple new colorways I’ve been cooking up. The one on the top will hopefully be ready just in time for football season 8) , while the one on the bottom is a colorway I thought might work well for my friend who is involved with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk. While they can use it as a fundraiser for their team, for any sales I personally make, I could also donate part of the proceeds back to the foundation. All for a good cause. What do you guys think of either of them?

Here’s a neat find. For those Auction Hunters/Storage Wars/Storage Hunters-type reality show fans out there, there will be a real life version of that happening right here in Hawaii. Locally-owned and operated Hawaii Self Storage will be holding a Storage Auction at their Salt Lake location (808 Ahua Street), with bids starting as low as $10! Check out the fun on Thursday, August 30th at 10am (with registration by 9am)!
It’s that time of year again! As one of the Rice Fest co-founders, I feel that it is my duty to pester da heck outta you guys until you show up at the event. 8) This year, we’re excited to be having it at Ward Centers (in the parking lot area near Menchies off Auahi). More on the details of the day’s activities, but you can be sure that we’ll have the best rice-oriented food booths, cooking demonstrations, the SPAM musubi eating contest, and the breaking of the Guinness World Record for Largest SPAM musubi… Again! Hope to see y’all there!

Wowzas! Two weeks in a row! What is this kid on!? 😉
This week, we gonna stick to the food p0rn to see how sharp you buggahs are. One fishy, one sammich and one hemajang mix plate. Speaking of which, wea hemajang stay?
Anyways, I’ll meet you back at the bottom of this post!

For this week’s “Spotted“, we got another video sighting of VH07V. Real estate extraordinaire, island entertainer, and all around nice guy Jon Yamasato recently wore his Blue/White Logo VH07V shirt on his popular HI*Sessions Youtube show. Check that entire Youtube channel out! Awesome resource for local Hawaiian music!
* Ever since columnist Alana Folen covered VH07V in last week’s MidWeek, (new) business has been picking up some steam. Big mahalos to Alana and the rest of the team at MidWeek!
* Moved into my much cozier/spacious/convenient storage space at Hawaii Self Storage. Got a lot more elbow room now to fill up with additional inventory, fold clothes and fulfill orders l’dat! Mahalos to the friendly staff at HSS!
* VH07V will be sponsoring this year’s Rice Fest (duh!), but the even more exciting part is that in addition to having a booth there to sell VH07V merch galore, I will printing up the official Rice Fest shirts for this year which will be worn by all volunteers. Another version of the shirt will also be sold at the VH07V booth with part of the proceeds going back to our main beneficiary: Lanakila Meals on Wheels!
* May have another potential “giving back” type of project in the works, but I don’t really want to talk about that yet in case it doesn’t happen. More on that to come.
* Got some exciting things cooking lately including new designs/styles for shirts/tops, new hats, and more! Speaking of which, here’s another unofficial survey for y’all! What do you guys think of the following hat samples? Will probably go forward with the more popular one(s).
In the comment section below, let me know which one you like.

After some sporadic “Where In Hawaii” posts the last few weeks/months, I’m back in full force with a full fledged post this week. Tree photos and all! How’s dat one!?
BTW, before we get to it, can I get a what-WHAT out dea from my Chinese people? It’s August 8th today. 8/8… Get it? How about a yeah-E-YEAH from all my Hawaii peeps? August 8 = 8/08 (808). OK, a little lame, but c’mon… can’t fault the effort! 😉

* The other week, I was interviewed by Midweek columnist Alana Folen for a column she writes called “Entrepreneurs”. What an exciting honor! I had no idea when it was supposed to come out until some friends recently started telling me “Congratulations!” I didn’t get my copy in the mail yet, but hopefully soon! Mahaloz Alana! For now, here’s a link to the article online: “New Clothing Line Promotes Aloha” and below is a photo of the article that our very own carokun took and sent to me.
How’s this for a cool “Spotted” shot!? Big Island blogger extraordinaire Damon Tucker wore his VH07V shirt while going skydiving with the folks at Skydive Hawaii. Here’s his blog on the experience, and below is his video. He said he purposely asked them to flip him over – MID-AIR! – to show off the VH07V upside-down! Now that’s a true loyalist! 😉
* My “fill-in” order to replenish low quantities of existing VH07V stock is IN! I’ve been so crazy busy with everything else though that it’s just been sitting in the boxes at storage for the last week or so. 😦
* Speaking of storage, things have been picking up so much that I’ve had to upgrade the size of my unit at Hawaii Self Storage. Mahalos to the friendly staff there for helping to make the transition an easy one! Photos of the move to come!
* Speaking of things picking up, here’s a fun little thing we recently did through social media. My super talented, yet very unassuming designer friend mocked up four sample designs for VH07V and we put them to a vote. The idea was that if one of them got super good kine response, that would be the next design to be released. It turned out that all designs got about the same amount of positive feedback.
Whatchu guys tink? Maybe you can be the tie-breaker? Which design do you like best? #1, #2, #3 or #4?
So wot? Which one you like? Let me know in the comment section below!
