[VIDEO] Where In the Hawaii is Edward Sugimoto? – May 30, 2012

May 30, 2012

I think last week’s video was a bit too difficult because, although we had a handful of Facebook shares via the blog, the comments/guesses were unusually low.

I had another food video queued up and ready to go for this week, but to avoid another slow comment week (hopefully), we’ll try something a lil’ different (yet again). If this doesn’t work, we may just have to go back to good ol’ fashioned photos again. LOL!

The quiz for the video is still the same (guessing Where In Hawaii this is), but you also get to enjoy a bit of “entertainment” while you’re at it. I use the term “entertainment” loosely because it’s yet to be determined if the video is actually entertaining to you. Ahahaha! LMK what you think (good or bad) in the comment area below k?

Weekly VH07V T-Shirt Update!

New VH07V Photo Shoot at Rainbow Drive-In!

Once again, Marc Orbito of Hungry eYe Photo continues to impress. Following up our last VH07V photo shoot at Kaka`ako Kool, I hired Marc to help shoot our next scene at the iconic Rainbow Drive-In. With the help of fellow blogger and friend Catherine Toth, I was able to get permission from owner Jimmy Gusukuma (Toth’s friend) to shoot some scenes there for VH07V. Wow, much mahalos Cat and Mr. Gusukuma! What an honor!

Below is a shot from Marc’s collection from that night! Unreal yeah? Can’t wait to see how the rest of the day’s shots turned out. To hire Marc for your photographic needs, be sure to contact him via his Facebook page here: Hungry eYe Photo!

VH07V Spotted!

This week’s “Spotted” shot for VH07V is of friend and supporter Jody Kamisato. He owns and operates the very popular ukulele school called Ukulele Hale. Jody is also a member of the Na Hoku Hanohano nominated band Heart & Soul, mentors keiki through his Ukes on the Loose program, and has a regular gig in Aulani’s Starlit Hui show every Monday and Thursday.

And finally… I’m officially a Guinness World Recordsā„¢ Record Holder!

Well, I can’t take all the credit, but it’s pretty exciting nonetheless. šŸ˜‰

We finally received notification back from the Guinness World Recordsā„¢ folks that our record setting attempt for the “Largest SPAM Musubi” at last year’s Rice Fest was made official. Me, along with the other 20 or so volunteers/participants in the building of the musubi got our names in the record books. Cool right? šŸ™‚

WWE is Three!

April 28, 2011

(I was sooooo tempted to title this “WWE is Tree!” LOL!

So our World Wide Ed `Ohana turns three tree today. Can you believe it!?

There’s been a lot of changes in all of our lives, no doubt, but at least one thing has remained consistent… ME! Ahahaha, nah, nah! I no like da attention today. It’s because of you guys that this blog has gone as long as it has. Your comments and warm wishes motivate me to keep going even though I stay tired sometimes. LOL!

Anyway, let’s take a look back at our inaugural post, and the following two anniversary posts…

In other news, word has it that Catherine Toth (The Daily Dish) will be making a reappearance to the Star Advertiser here soon. Not as a daily blogger, but as a weekly columnist. Read all about it here: “The Daily Dish moves on“.

Maybe that means she’ll be bringing back some of our O.G. `ohana members? *grin* And speaking of that, I heard that there is a possibility of all blogs and columns merging together on the same server and domain so it’s 1) easier for you faithful readers to find us all in one place and 2) easier for the S.A. folks to manage/maintain. Cross your fingers! šŸ™‚

Shoots den! Here’s to the next year peeps! *KANPAI!*

Remembering Ryan…

April 25, 2011

Remembering Ryan...When news broke that a man died from a fall off the Olomana trail yesterday, folks in the know on Twitter starting voicing their concern as there was an unofficial #twike (Hiking Tweetup) taking place there at that very time. It was soon discovered that the hiker in question was what everyone feared… One of our own. Out of respect for his family, most were hush hush about naming him in the stream. Cryptic even. I got a few DMs to confirm the tragedy, but nothing in the public timeline.

I won’t even pretend like I knew him personally because I didn’t (we just tweeted each other online from time to time), but from what is now coming from the Twitterverse after his passing, I really wish I did. I regret not being able to make any of the #Tweeball events that he coordinated due to scheduling conflicts, but I’m sure they will continue in his honor, and I will be there.

Here’s a list of remembrance blogs from those who knew him well. R.I.P. Ryan Suenaga…

And finally, here’s a Ryan Suenaga Tribute Page and the Twtvite to a Tribute to @rsuenaga.

Happy Birthday to WWE-eeeeee!

April 28, 2009

A year ago to the day, the world was fortunatelyĀ unfortunately exposed to the mind of me, and I hereby apologize.

You see, the peeps at the ’tiser opened thangs up for me in the backend *snicker* and shortly thereafter, the first ever World Wide Ed blog (to the Advertiser community) – simply entitled “Aloooooha!” – was born (in the USA)!

Things were slow at first, as I tried to find my place amongst the big dogs *woof WOOF* like Stephen Tsai’s “The Warrior Beat,” and Catherine Toth’s “The Daily Dish,” but eventually, I found my virtual footing and carved a cozy little niche out for myself and you fun, faithful readers.

Hoooo! I can’t believe it’s already been a year! *wipes away Visine induced tears* As some of you mentioned in yesterday’s blog, time really does fly when you’re having fun eh? It still amazes me that there wereĀ THAT many topics to write about on the daily. Sure, I did missĀ a few days here and thurr due to travel, holidays, and a little thing called a wedding, but for the most part, I was pretty on top of it wouldn’t ya say?

In fact, if my math is correct (and don’t truss’ me ’cause I suck at math), I probably wrote about 261 posts, give or take a few.

365 (days in the year)
– 104 (weekend days)
= 261 actual week days ofĀ possible WWE blogs

OK, I checked out our backend *snicker* and saw that I actually posted 200 fitty blogs! (I tol’ you my math sucks!) Either way, I think that’s quite a feat if I do say so myself. *bends over and waits for a pat on the back* (*snicker*)Ā In theory, if I continue this blog on that torrid pace for the next 30 years of my life, I would’ve bored you to tears with 7,500 posts! Seventy five HUNNY!

Don’t be.

It’ll be all good in the ‘hood going forward. Trust.

I think I’m finally getting the hang of this. No more posts about nails, my broken mandible or MMA. I heard you (or rather, I didn’t hear you at all in the comments) loud and clear. Jeez, and it only took me a year to finally get it! Ha!

Mahalos to each and errry one of you for reading. E Komo Mai to those coming by way of seeing my spooky face in today’s paper. Whether you’re new and this is your first hit of WWE, or you need to be sent to WWEA pretty soon, I send mad love to you! Please continue to read and post your feedback in the comment area. That’s really what keeps me going. I love reading and interacting with the `ohana we got goin’ on here. You guys are the ones who make this blog fun for me! Keep it up yo!

Keep the memories a-comin’!

* What’s the biggest thing that happened to you in the last year? – Hands down, da big dance, fo shizzle.
