Sorry for not posting last week Wednesday y’all. In addition to getting owned at work with all kine corp visitors coming in and out, I went out of commission with a stomach flu. 😦 And even though I’m coughing with shmall kine congestion now, my fingers can still move so this post will not be denied! Haha!
Is everybody’s March going a-ok so far? I hope so! I got one month left in my body fat loss competition with friends. This sickness probably didn’t help (I haven’t been able to work out for more than a week now), but hopefully, I can get back to it soon. Anyway, here are this week’s pics! Out of thousands of entries, two of Hawaii’s brightest developers (Ryan Kanno and Austen Ito) were selected to be a part of this year’s StartupBus tour. Their mission? To develop a cool new startup during their bus ride that will debuted at SxSW in Austin Texas! Now that they’ve arrived and are in waiting mode before their projects (readin.gs & jobber.io) are judged, they’re looking to make the biggest social media impact while there. 2nd Annual Hawaii Social Media Summit – Social Media Personality Award Winners:
Last week, I had the great privilege of winning an award at the 2nd Annual Hawaii Social Media Summit held at the Hawaii Convention Center. Known as the Social Media Personality Award it:

Technology News Bytes (the organizers of #SMSHI) had the difficult task of narrowing it down to the top 15. Wow, what an amazing first class I have been included with and I am very honored to be a part of this inaugural group of social media leaders. They are:

SOCIALITE MEDIA AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
HONOLULU, HI (October 21, 2011) – Technology News Bytes recognized social media gurus who are making waves in the industry at the 2011 Social Media Summit on Wednesday, October 19.
The Social Media Personality Award honors the individual whom best portrays that of a social media influencer. This person stays top of mind in the social sphere and is consistent in keeping up with the trends of social media innovation.
Technology News Bytes had more than 70 nominations, all of which were very deserving of this award. The winners were:
When news broke that a man died from a fall off the Olomana trail yesterday, folks in the know on Twitter starting voicing their concern as there was an unofficial #twike (Hiking Tweetup) taking place there at that very time. It was soon discovered that the hiker in question was what everyone feared… One of our own. Out of respect for his family, most were hush hush about naming him in the stream. Cryptic even. I got a few DMs to confirm the tragedy, but nothing in the public timeline.
I won’t even pretend like I knew him personally because I didn’t (we just tweeted each other online from time to time), but from what is now coming from the Twitterverse after his passing, I really wish I did. I regret not being able to make any of the #Tweeball events that he coordinated due to scheduling conflicts, but I’m sure they will continue in his honor, and I will be there.
