Fave Five Friday – Karaoke Songs

May 15, 2009

Is our WWE `ohana a singin’ bunch? Let’s find out shall we!?

This week’s Fave Five topic is… yep, you guessed it… Karaoke Songs (and please don’t pronounce that “care-e-o-key” πŸ˜› )!

These are songs that you either like to sing yourself (if you’re da mic hog of da group), or with the group. Either way, it’s fun stuffs no?

  1. Let Me Be There – (singing it like) the Ekolu version of course!
  2. More Than Words – only if someone knows how to harmonize the other part. 8)
  3. A Song For Mama – most notes be in my range (easy). πŸ˜›
  4. Nothin But A G Thang – extra fun when you’re feelin’ a little tipsy and battling someone verse to verse. LOL!
  5. Anything Rick Astley – need I say more?

How about the annoying 5? Here’s mine:

  1. Summer Nights or Bohemian Rhapsody – these are actually fun group songs, but sometimes overplayed.
  2. I Will Survive – girly song… I can’t relate. πŸ˜›
  3. Barbie Girl – see above
  4. Anything unfamiliar or “self indulgent” (as Simon would say) – nothing more boring than watching/listening to a song that puts the singer in their own little world.
  5. Anything Britney or Boy Band-ish – need I say more?

On a side note, how about dem cheesy (local) music videos dey got goin’ on with some of dem songs? Or the Korean kine that uses footage that doesn’t even relate to the song? LOL!

Happy VHO7V Friday y’all! Have a good weekend and I’ll see y’all on Monday! πŸ™‚

Prom Songs

April 10, 2009

Since I’m off being unproductive today πŸ˜› , hurr’s a combo Fave 5 / Flashback Friday post from our beloved kuya.d. Show him some love y’all!

—————————

Chee-hoo! And aloha WWE ‘ohana! I’m not sure if Ed made a good decision, but you lucky buggahs (or poor things) have me, kuya.d, sitting in for the vacay man today. Thanks for the honor Bruddah Ed!

So let’s jump in the ole way-back machine, and give a nod to prom. Yeah, it’s prom season, so let’s do it this way: list your Fave 5 songs from your prom days (fast songs, love songs, any song that takes you back!).

And I’ll also start us off on our favorite “name that tune” sing-along. So join in!

I know today’s Good Friday so I do wish you all a nice one. Some of you don’t have work, but I’m still hoping for some responses since some folks still have to represent on the time clock.

My prom songs Fave 5:
1) “Lost in Love” – New Edition (they were my favorite group until Boyz II Men came out).
2) “About You” – C&K (even the kids now listen to this song, true island classic).
3) “The Search is Over” – Survivor (didn’t I hear this on Idol the other nite?).
4) “Supersonic” – JJ Fadd (this or rock, rock Planet Rock, or give-give-give Give it All You Got).
5) “I Would Die 4 You” – Prince (go ahead, throw in that Purple Rain DVD, I know ya wanna).

. . . I’ve been waiting for so long, now I finally found someone to stand by me . . . (continue on from here folks)!

By the way, Have a blessed Easter! And Ed will be back Monday, mucho mahalos!

Fave Five Friday – Must Have CDs (Desert Island edition)

January 23, 2009

OK, so last week’s (Desert Island) DVD list seemed to be a pretty decent hit. We even got some lurkers to come out of shadows and post up in hurr. Woo hoo! Hopefully, this post will bring out more. C’mon y’all, don’t be scurred! πŸ™‚ This week, let’s go with the next logical list: CDs! Awwwww yeah!

So I don’t need to explain the rules right? Let’s get on with the show! Stuck? Get some help here or here.

  1. Dr. Dre – “The Chronic – Dre and Snoop Dogg at their best! Who wants to battle me in “Nuthin’ But A G Thang?” πŸ˜›
  2. Shai – “…If I Ever Fall In Love” – Another classic! Used to listen to it going to bed errry night back in the day.
  3. Color Me Badd – “C.M.B. – My very first CD purchase (transitioning from cassette tapes)! This one got some miles one it!
  4. Anything Rockapella – These bruthas are insane! You mightΒ recognize them from their “Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego” song. Their vocal percussionist Jeff Thatcher is amazing (see video below). My dream is to one day see them in person.
  5. Anything Ka`au Crater Boys – Gotta bring the Hawaiian jams right? And who better than the starters of the ukulele craze (to the mainstream). Hopefully, I can bring my uke to the island too. πŸ™‚

Honorable mentions go to Boyz II Men – “Cooleyhighharmony“, Dixie Chicks – “Wide Open Spaces” and/or “Fly“, R Kelly and Public Announcement – “Born Into the 90’s“, Brotherhood Creed – “BHC“, or Rick Astley – “Whenever You Need Somebody” (oh yeah! I went there!)!

Post yours below so I can see which classics I missed!

Have a happy Aloha Friday (and weekend) y’all! Shoots!
