#PrayForBoston
What happened on Monday in Boston is sad and angering. It goes without saying. I really hope they find and punish the person/people involved with this terrible, terrible act. Please help me pray for those families going through hurt and loss right now…

Blogger turned “Actress” Cat Toth?
I recently solicited friend and former Advertiser blogger Cat Toth to be in a future Oceanic Time Warner Cable commercial spot so look for that in the coming weeks. It was fun. Sistah always cracks me up. Here’s a group shot from that day.

Weekly VH07V T-Shirt Update!

Since I had such a blast at last month’s Hawaii Ocean Expo, I decided to try and kill myself again by doing it all over at yet another expo. πŸ˜› If you’re free, come on down to the Big Boys & MMA Hawaii Expo on June 15, 16 and 17 at the Blaisdell and say hi! I’ll have even more VH07V (New Products) by then!

This week’s “Spotted” shot for VH07V was submitted by my buddy Thomas Yamada, who runs nvrMT Promotions out of Seattle. He was able to get a shot with local recording artist J Boog before the concert he helped put on.

What Chefs Eat Launch Party

April 7, 2010

A-ight, so Urban Mix Plate’s Melissa Chang’s got some mean typing skillz and beat me to the punch already. Her version of last night’s “What Chefs Eat Launch Party” is already live on her blog. Geez Louise.

And although she posted a pic of me in there that looks like I’m balding, I won’t hate, I’ll appreciate… I guess. Nah, she’s da woMAN! πŸ˜›

So last night, the “Party Like A Chef” event, put on by Share Your Table‘s Melanie Kosaka, and hosted by the good people at Roy’s Restaurant, was in full effect. Melanie, with the help of tech entrepreneur Eric Nakagawa (ICanHasCheezburger.com), developed an iPhone app based on an idea she and Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya thought up: create a place that focuses on where Hawaii’s chefs like to go and grind during their down times. You know, the “insider” mom and pop kine places. The event helped to formally introduce and launch the app to much of the state’s local media (traditional and social) and food industry’s titans.

The app, fittingly called “What Chefs Eat“, is currently the #1 “Hawaii” app on the iPhone app store and can be downloaded here.

According to Kosaka, an Android version of the app is in the works. Yeah, I had to ask. πŸ˜‰

The quality of some of the pics are not the greatest as they were pulled from the pics from my live tweets (via my phone), but here’s a glimpse at some of the sights and ono grindz from last night.

On a side note, Kosaka is also busy working with Oceanic Time Warner Cable to develop a full-blown Share Your Table TV Channel. Scheduled to launch on June 1st, Share Your Table TV will literally share their table and air their massive library of culinary content to Oceanic’s customers via channel 320. For a sneak peek at Share Your Table TV, visit shareyourtable.tv or click on the screenshot below.

Columnists’ Holiday Party at the Road Runner Music Hall

November 11, 2008

PSYCHE!

With a whoppin’ 7 comments on yesterday’s post (2 of which were mine!), I decided to postpone the oh so popular wedding related posts to next week (while I’m on vacation). That way, I won’t have to be in front of a computer when I cry my eyes out at the lack of comments. Haha! I keed. But seriously, let’s get back to some hard core postin’ shall we?

On Friday, we had our annual, holiday get-together with our hard workin’Β AroundHawaii columnists. I always look forward to these, as I get to meet and see the faces of the eclectic bunch that I usually only communicate with via email throughout the year. This year, our attending experts, spanning such topics as surf (Sean & Lane Davey and Dean Luke), computing (Yasuo Ogawa and Kiman Wong), recipes (Liz Rizzo), golf (Danielle Tucker), real estate (Joe Segal), jewelry (Russell Oshita), finance (Jon Yamasato), local food (Grant Kawasaki), Las Vegas (Kimo Akane), style (Cathy Lee), parenting (Diane Ako), and travel (Claus Hansen), enjoyed the festivities at the Road Runner Music Hall, an amazing facility put together by the folks at Clear Channel Communications.

The prizes were compliments of Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the delicious food was catered both by Creations In Catering and the gang at Clear Channel Communications, and the entertainment was by a new group called Onward. The lead singer’s voice (Chad?) was pretty killah! Here are some scenes from the night (mahalo to Kiman Wong for the shots!)!

* Mahalo to Charmaine and the gang at Creations In Catering for putting together an amazing menu for my peeps.
* Mahalo to the man Kevin Jones and the rest of the staffers at Clear Channel Communications, for helping to coordinate such a successful night!
* Mahalo to the killah reggae band Onward. You guys were awesome!
* Mahalo to Gwen, Maribel, Kiman, Alan, Noreen, Matt and everyone else atΒ Oceanic Time Warner Cable, for helping to make this night possible!

Phase 2, with real time credit card transaction through your TV is currently scheduled for 2007. To get to the Oceanic Mall,

  1. Tune to Oceanic Digital Channel 001
  2. Select Marketplace
  3. Select Mall

Don’t have Digital Cable? Call (808) 643-2337 to order today.

Jan Nadamoto of Fulfillment Werks also suggests placing your order at least 2 weeks prior to Christmas in order to receive your products in time for the holidays.

——————————————————————————–

Oceanic.com Marketplace

Oceanic.com Marketplace
Similar to the Oceanic Mall on Channel 001, the Oceanic.com Marketplace allows you to browse from the UH RainBowTique and Wholesale Unlimited product lines – using your Internet connected computer – and place orders using a posted telephone number. Secure, online ordering is scheduled to become available shortly after the Oceanic Mall version.

The Oceanic Food Court

The Oceanic Food Court (also in the Oceanic.com Marketplace), however, is fully interactive as we speak. Just punch in a few details about your Oceanic Account or come here after logging into MyAccount and BAM! you’re added to the mix… with essence! Choose items from Cybee Restaurant’s or Flamingo Pearl City’s or Pizza Hut’s menu and have them delivered after placing your order online. But Ed, what does having food delivered to me have to do with my last minute Christmas shopping? Ah, details. Let’s just call it a Christmas present to yourself and move on shall we… ? πŸ˜‰

——————————————————————————–

Actually, that’s pretty much all I’ve got to report to you for this month regarding last minute Christmas shopping through Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s array of products and services. Well, you can always, as they say, give the gift of cable… which ranges from Digital Cable Service, Road Runner, Digital Phone, DVR, etc. Oceanic’s offers for the month of December are as follows FYI (find the complete details on these at whatsnew.oceanic.com):

  • Order Road Runner or Digital Phone and get HBO and HBO On Demand for $7 more per month for the first 6 months.
  • Order Road Runner and get the First Month Free
  • Order Digital Phone and receive Free Installation and Your First Month Free
  • Order DVR Self-Install and get the First Month Free
  • Get DVR for $4.95 per month for 6 months.

Call 643-2337 to order any of the above for yourself or as gifts.

——————————————————————————–

One last hint for you extremely late gift givers… Once you pass the cut-off dates mentioned above and start sweating in your shorts about what to do, why not give the electronic superstores a looksee. Many of them, like BestBuy and Circuit City, have In-Store pick-up options so you can browse for and place your order online, and then physically pick it up without having to go through the whole rigmarole of looking for the product at the store and standing in line to purchase it.

Good luck with your shopping folks… Which reminds me… I have to get crack-a-lackin’ on mine! Yikes! Have a happy holiday season with your friends and family gang. I’ll see you here again next year!
