You’ve probably already heard about Time Warner Cable’s #ProBowlCatch campaign which encouraged fans to vote for Victor Cruz to get onto the 2013 Pro Bowl roster. The campaign was a huge, viral sensation garnering over 1.33 million views through three videos.
Earlier this week, prior to the game, Hawaii’s Oceanic Team had the honor of catching up with Victor in an exclusive interview as he relaxed at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort with his family on Friday.

The following day, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, along with the NFL Network, sponsored the Pro Bowl VIP Party at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at the Royal Hawaiian Center, which was all part of the Pro Bowl All-Star Block Party held in Waikiki that evening. Here are some scenes from the night.

On Sunday it was game time, where Victor showed off his hands, catching 10 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown en route to a lopsided 62-35 NFC win over his AFC rivals. What a fun Pro Bowl weekend here in Hawaii. Victor Cruz and Time Warner Cable… helping all of us Enjoy Football Better.

Hawaii Self Storage gives $1.8 Million back to our Community!
Hawaii Self Storage “Community Pride” initiatives have established various programs focused on enhancing literacy, education, teamwork, support to local charities and families in need. They have funded 83 public high school students to go to college, provided 7,700 reading books in local elementary schools, cared for and provided a transition home for 544 abused keiki (Ho’omalu o na Kamali’i), sponsored keiki athletic teams, and invested 1,000s of dollars supporting local, non-profit organizations.

As part of the “local media”, I have been invited on board Hawaiian Airlines’ inaugural flight to Brisbane Australia departing in a couple of weeks on the 27th. It will be the only nonstop flight there from Hawaii and the second to Australia (Sydney being the other city) through Hawaiian. My social media friends and counterparts got to enjoy some of the previous inaugural flights Hawaiian took (Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, New York City and Sapporo), and I could only live vicariously through them, so getting the opportunity myself is pretty dang exciting and quite humbling. Look for some Australian pics & posts from me along the way mate. And if you have any suggestions on what to do or eat, let a brutha know!

This week’s “Spotted” shot for VH07V features a mix of A) being a timely event, B) a VH07V spotting and C) eye candy. 8) On Saturday (Nov 3) the popular Color Run came to town and Sandra Kim of SkimAloha was there to conquer it. * Nothing much new to report other than 1) the shopping cart is in progress and 2) the $100 Shopping Spree (for our first 1,000 Facebook Fans) contest is still open. We’re close to 900 Fans now so just 100 more to go. Wheeeee!

As you can tell by the above, I’m a bit excited. This may actually be the first time that a WIH post landed on Halloween. You guys got big plans?
No Halloween parties for me these days. Getting old already. LOL! For the first time in my life, I will actually be going Trick or Treating around the neighborhood… as a parent! Crazy right? A bunch of us neighborhood friends (all new parents) will be taking the keiki around the ‘hood for some treats. Mellow kine, but should be fun seeing the expression on the kids’ faces.

This week’s “Spotted” shot for VH07V features a video from Canadian Youtuber Jason Johnston, who has a unique (and inspiring) story himself. Jay and his wife visited Hawaii years ago and completely fell in love with the islands. At the age of 35, after hitting rock bottom (in debt, overweight, injured & unemployed), he embarked on a 5 year plan of attempting to change his life and move to Hawaii for a period of 1 year (watch his intro video). His plan, appropriately named Hawaii Four-0 (for when he turns 40 years old), has gained a steady following on Youtube and is a great inspiration for many of us to aspire to.
Jay first reached out to me via the VH07V Facebook page inquiring about ordering some stuff. I guess, because of his love for Hawaii, it just spoke to him. Since then, we’ve been messaging each other back and forth, even planning on a night with some beers once he gets here. He’s a really nice guy and you can’t help but root for him and his goal. The video below is his latest, where he talks about the gear I sent him and about being featured on fellow social medialite “@AlohaBruce” Fisher’s web site: Hawaii-Aloha.com.

* My friend’s mini craft fair at Koko Head Elementary last Sunday actually went a lot better than I had anticipated. I only brought one item per color/option and within the first hour was out of many things. Sorry to those who wanted things I was missing. I’ll catch ya later.
* Still undecided on whether or not I should get a booth at the Islandwide Crafts & Food Expo taking place on the Black Friday weekend from Nov 23-25. I might want to concentrate more on the Christmas rush and finally setting up that online shopping cart.
* Speaking of which, I’ve been able to make a little progress on setting up the online shopping site for VH07V. Will hopefully have more to report soon!
