Fave Five Friday: Phobias

July 17, 2009

Yeah, OK, so “Phobias” do not exactly constitute a “Fave” Five list, but you know what I mean right? 8)

This one was actually suggested by wifey, after coming eye to eye with a friendly widdle cockroach – something she’s DEATHLY afraid of – at a restaurant.

Since I’m such a manly man (*grunt* *snort*), coming up with a list of things I’m afraid of will not be easy. *grin* But seriously, for those having trouble wid dis, try herehere or here (some of ’em are HILARIOUS!). OK, let’s do this thang!

My Phobias yo:

  1. Kakorrhaphiophobia (defeat) or Atychiphobia (failure) – Hate to lose. Nuff said.
  2. Agoraphobia (crowded public places) – not really a phobia, but more of a peeve. Don’t like things/people crowding me. Personal space people. 😉
  3. Thanatophobia (death/dying) – who isn’t afraid of dying?
  4. Trypanophobia/Aichmophobia/Belonephobia (needles) – not really scared of um, but I’d rather not have to have um in me. 😉
  5. Phalacrophobia (becoming bald) – kinda funny, but serious. Hehe!

Is there such a thing as PublicToiletSeatphobia? If so, I got it! 8)

Some amusing ones I found:

  1. Caligynephobia (beautiful women) – poor guy
  2. Kolpophobia (female genitals) – no comment
  3. Japanophobia (Japanese or Japanese culture) – Ahahaha!
  4. Gamophobia (marriage) – could be blamed for some long engagements?
  5. Gymnophobia (nudity) – craziness! Playboy would go broke!
  6. Didaskaleinophobia (school, going to school) – Dammit! I could’ve used this back in the day! 8)
  7. Genophobia (sex) – is you serious?
  8. Cacophobia (ugliness) – Bwahahahahahaha!

I really shouldn’t be laughing though cause these could be very serious fears for people. :

Happy VHO7V Friday y’all and have a good weekend a-ight? Shoots!

Things That Make You Go Hmmm… Food Prices

July 16, 2009

Here’s something that has always baffled me, which, btw, leads to the perfect “Things That Make You Go Hmmm…” post.

Why in the heck does cereal cost so much!!!???

Really cereal peeps… Is it that difficult/costly to produce for y’all? Just put some sugary flakes and shapes in a plastic bag and box um up. Pau.

Often, I’ll peruse the cereal aisle and see a teeny weeny (yellow polka dot bikini) box of [insert cereal name here] for like $7 or more! Mother of Pearl! Why do you do this to me?

Talk to me!
* What say you? What steep food item cost makes you go Hmmm…?

Where In Hawaii is Edward Sugimoto? – July 15, 2009

July 15, 2009

I know, I know… I missed last week’s WIH Wednesday. My bad. Sometimes a brutha’s gotta do what a brutha’s gotta do. 8)

The good news is that you should be even hungrier for this week’s game ’cause you missed it so… RIGHT!? 🙂

I gots no idea how Coconut Willy did it, but Dubya’s quick eyes caught the split second animation action and correctly guessed our game from a couple week’s ago: Kilauea Ave near Kahala Mall. Please help me congratulate ol’ eagle eye! 😉

This week, I’m gonna make it a little trick-ay! We be going outside the 808. Awwww yeah!

Wea you axe? Click here for a hint of where it may be.

To make it a tad more challenging, City and State/Country will not be enough to win. Ya gotsta know (almost) exactly where (area) it was taken. Get um? Got um? Good! We go!

Rebound Relationships?

July 14, 2009

Since it’s News Day Tuesday, we’ll take a closer look at one of the items recently reported in the news: Jon Gosselin has a new girlfriend.

Bruddah was married with 8 kids not too long ago. How’s dat one?

I’ll save you from reading and let you guys chime in on some of the suggested items listed below or others you’d like to dish on.

Talk to me!
* Was their marriage doomed to begin with?
* Do you think the show played a part in their break-up?
* Is it Kate’s fault?
* What about the poor kids?
* Was he cheating on Kate?
* What is an OK timeframe for him (or anyone) to move on to a new relationship?
* Have you ever (or know of anyone who has) rebounded from one relationship to the next?
* Any truth to the theory that Rebound Relationships never work?
* How about the theory that some girls rebound from one relationship to the next because they can never be alone?
* Your best rebound relationship story?
* Any other comments on Rebound Relationships?

Other hijacking options:
* Jessica Simpson Dumped by Tony Romo
* Lauren Conrad Tops New York Times Best Seller List
* LaToya Jackson Claims Michael Jackson was Murdered
* Team Oceanic remains unbeaten (3-0) in the AAJA Hawaii Media Basketball League 8)
* MLB All Star Game tonight! Gooooo Shane!

Fun Day Monday: City Game

July 13, 2009

A-ightchall. I’m back. Be vewwy vewwy quiet afraid.

To get this party started (right!) and get us back in the commenting mood (were we ever? 😛 ), we’ll do a widdle game I’ll call the City Game.

As some of you may know, I just returned from vacay where I was lucky enough to hit up many American and International cities on a cruise. OK Canada, but “International” sounds a lot more glamorous don’t it? 😛

On the trip, there were some uniquely named towns/cities (Sitka, Ketchikan, etc.) and it got me a thinkin’. Hence the idea for this post.

So you’re probably familiar with the concept. The first person starts with the letter “A” and posts a city name. The next person will use “B” and so on and so forth. To make things interesting though, let’s try and think of some fun/non-mainstream cities if you can.

The thing I like about this post is that it all but guarantees me at least 26 comments. Muhahaha! Well, that is, of course, if y’all can think of cities starting with Q and X!

Go getum!

Guest Blog: Name That Tune Summer Redux [skycastles]

July 6, 2009

Hey WWE Ohana!

Guess I’m the lucky one who gets to wrap up the guest blogging while Ed’s cruising with the wildlife up in Alaska. I’ve been tossing and turning trying to think up a decent topic for us that’ll also help boost Ed’s comment count. (Mebbe if we do good, he’ll let us hijack more often no?)

One of the funnest WWE blogs ever was the Name That Tune thread that lasted days and days. I figure, why fix what ain’t broke? (Plus, it’s Monday. Do you even have your first cup of coffee yet?) So with that said, let’s bus’ out the music and get this party started. Dust off those vinyls or load up that iPod ’cause we’re gonna rock this joint!

Feel free to keep this thing going by posting your favorite summer lyrics once my tune is named. Check back often because judging from last time, we got some music aficionados up in here and this thing will move pretty quickly. I thought I’d start us off with something from the summer of ’66:

“…All around people lookin’ half dead
walkin’ on the sidewalk hotter than a match head.
But at night it’s a different world,
go out and find a girl.
Come on, come on and dance all night.
Despite the heat it’ll be alright…”

NAME THAT TUNE

Good luck!
